Are Democrats finally waking up to the violence? Only when it happens to them!

First, we want to acknowledge that all people deserve forgiveness, in spite of political ideology or past sins; “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesian 4:31-32 ESV). R-Rated Religion advocates reconciliation, unity, and community advocated throughout both Testaments of the Bible. This is the major problem with society, and particularly politics where every sin, mistake, and position is so scrutinized and analyzed without any attention to human error, the depravity of the human condition, and reconciliation or forgiveness.

That being said, how unbelievably ignorant and hypocritical is the progressive left (and most Democrats in power right now) is it to call out the evils of rioting and violence only when it finally lands on their own door? Take the time and read this article in its entirety. It showcases how finally Democrats in Wisconsin are finally willing to denounce rioting and destruction of the public property now that members of their leadership are suffering. What about the people who have been suffering since this all started? This violence and tyranny have been going on in the United States for weeks now with little or no admonishment from Democrats in leadership roles. Only when it finds itself at the doorsteps of the elite (who hide from this daily in their private homes) with violent consequences do they acknowledge this is wrong. Where are the cries of the blood on whose hands now?

This is a perfect example of how the whole political system is in need of reformation, not just certain aspects of law enforcement.  We are warned of this in the Gospel of Luke:

Judging Others
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they, not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone, when he is fully trained, will be like his teacher. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but does not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye” (Luke 6:37-42).

When the political system is so riddled with hate and animosity that neither side can see the log in their own eye; the system is broken. This is what we see day in and day out, year after year, politician after politician. Everyone is so eager to exploit the speck (mistakes) of their enemy that they are blinded by the log (hypocrisy) that is ruining their own good works. Much of the death and destruction of the past month could have been avoided if both sides of the political spectrum could have acknowledged one American axiomatic principle: all violence is bad.

This is what happens when we take the Bible completely out of political discourse. This is the exact result of denying ethical principles gleaned from the biblical text. Chaos reigns and innocence suffers, it happens every time. What should be highlighted, debated, and reeducated in our homes is not the sins of the American past (although noteworthy) but the denial of Christ in the American present?
