Almighty God, you created us in your own image: Grant us
grace to contend fearlessly against evil and to make no peace
with oppression; and help us to use our freedom rightly in the
establishment of justice in our communities and among the
nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ
our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.
O God, whose wonderful deeds of old shine forth even to our
own day, by the power of your mighty arm you once delivered
your chosen people from slavery under Pharaoh, to be a sign for
us of the salvation offered to all nations by the water of Baptism:
Grant that all the peoples of the earth may be numbered among
the offspring of Abraham, and rejoice in the inheritance of
Israel; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth,
and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far
off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere
may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your
fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming
of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace
proceed: Kindle, we pray, in the hearts of all people the true love
of peace, and guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom those
who take counsel for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility
your kingdom may go forward, till the earth is filled with the
knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, the creator and preserver of all mankind, we humbly
beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou
wouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thy
saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for thy
holy Church universal, that it may be so guided and governed
by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves
Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith
in the unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in the righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who
are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate,
[especially those for whom our prayers are desired]; that it
may please thee to comfort and relieve them according to their
several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings,
and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for
Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
